we call it KlezHop!
KLEZHOP FROM BERLIN: MISHMOSH BIO
A touch of nostalgia and the constant admiration of musical tradition is in the air through the beauty of the old melodies – suddenly, the captivating bass pulls you back into the here and now. Kaye Kayani's razor-sharp rap kicks in, inviting you into stories and subtexts, and the boundary between past and present seems to be dissolved.
Since 2020, MishMosh is thrilling hip hop and jazz enthusiasts as well as tradition-conscious audiences alike, at festivals like Kongress der Hedonistischen Internationale, Karneval der Kulturen, venues like Luftschloss or Panke Culture or the mass demonstration of Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft.
So what is KlezHop, how they call it? It's an innovative crossover of klezmer, hip hop and trap. Imagine traditional melodies with lush brass sections, head-nodding beats and funky grooves. Their eight versatile musicians mix the influences of their diverse artistic backgrounds and thus fuse rap, hip hop, funk, and Yiddish klezmer into something uniquely new!
In autum 2023 MishMosh is collaborating with the a capella ensemble zimmmt. Together, these two groups create an unique experience of abundant sounds: Brass, Bass, Synths and a 20-person polyphonic vocal group! This is performed live on october 21st and november 10th (see concert dates above).
Absolutely danceable, cosmopolitan and unprecedented: MishMosh.
